This year's National School Bus Safety Week theme is:

"Avoid Harm, Obey the Stop Arm"

The theme of National School Bus Safety Week, which is derived from the poster contest the year before, should not be confused with the Poster Contest theme.

Apollo-Ridge plans to reinforce the bus safety training the students received this school year and celebrate Bus Safety Week with a poster contest for students in Grades 5 and 8.

The theme for this year's contest is: CROSS IN VIEW, IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO

Students in grades 5 and 8 will be asked to design an original poster using the following guidelines:

  • Posters may be illustrated on the vertical or horizontal axis.
  • There is no limitation on the use and number of colors.
  • T here is no limitation on the type of media -- such as print, crayon, felt pen, etc.
  • All artwork should be positive in approach, demonstrating only proper school bus safety behaviors.
  • DEADLINE:  September 30, 2009

Criteria for the selection of award-winning posters are:

a. Relationship of the poster design to the school bus safety practices.
