AREF LEARNING FESTIVAL FEATURES ALYSSA HEPLER!
The Apollo-Ridge Education Foundation is pleased to feature Alyssa Hepler, a 2012 graduate of Apollo-Ridge, who was chosen as the National Spokesperson for the Patriot Girls USA, an organization created in 2007 to boost troop morale and create an awareness of the needs of our service men and women and their families. The 2013 Learning Festival includes community favorites like the Touchdown Club’s dunk tank, EMS and First Responder demonstrations, and the return of the Science Fair and Book Exchange. New attractions include antique car show, BMX bikes, free ID-A-KID cards, and student exhibits from StrongLand’s Entrepreneurial program and A-R’s Gifted Showcase. The Education foundation looks forward to your participation in the 2013 Learning Festival, an annual event that draws hundreds of visitors from across the Alle-Kiski Valley!

APOLLO-RIDGE LEARNING FESTIVAL CELEBRATING 35 YEARS OF COMMUNITY EDU-TAINMENT! On Saturday, May 11, from 10 AM - 4 PM, the Apollo-Ridge High School campus is the place to be for food, fun, and entertainment! Kicking off at 9:00 AM with a 5K race, the event will include two performances by Apollo Idol winners Rolling Thunder, dance performances and instruction by Belly Dance by Malissa, Just Dance, and Recruiters for God Dance Ministry. The Learning Festival is proud to present 2012 A-R Alum Alyssa Hepler, the National Spokesperson for the Patriot Girls, an organization that supports our troops and their families. Other exhibits include BMX bicycle demonstrations, a science fair, the Book Exchange, Chinese auction, kids crafts and games, and lots of food and craft vendors! Contact Mrs. Kostiuk at ext. 6010 for details. 5K ON MAY 11 SUPPORTS A-R TRACK TEAM This cross-country style 5k walk/run takes place on the Apollo-Ridge Community Fitness Trail. Pre-registration forms can be accessed at apolloridge.com. Final registration takes place the morning of the race from 7:00AM to 8:30AM. Parking is available. Please arrive early to properly register and prepare for the walk/run. First place male and female finishers will receive a $50 gift card; second place $25 gift card; and third place $15 gift card. The first place male and female finishers in each of 10 categories will receive a $7 gift card. Registration is only $15. Calling all students in grades K-12 -- you are invited to participate in Apollo Ridge’s science fair from 10 AM - Noon on Saturday, May 11 - you do not need to be an A-R student to participate. The science fair is a wonderful opportunity to learn and present what you know and love about science. Students will choose any topic they truly enjoy, run several experiments, and then present their findings at the Fair. Students may choose to work on an individual project or team up with a partner.
