Gifted Education

Second Independent Project Showcase

May 1, 2013 at 6pm in the Elementary Multi-Purpose Room

Customized education is designed to meet the needs of all children at all ability levels.  The Apollo-Ridge School District believes that all students can be educated in the regular classroom by a highly qualified teacher that can differentiate the instruction to meet the needs of all students in the classroom.  The gifted student will be given various enrichment opportunities in his/her classroom.  In addition, an enrichment class can be scheduled to afford the opportunity to work on independent projects.  Teacher support is given during these times.

Mrs. Janetta Thomas will be coordinating the Gifted Program.  Mrs. Thomas can be reached at 724-478-6000, extension 1020.

If you have further questions, you can contact the CSS Office.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) offers several resources that contain valuable information for parents with regard to gifted education, and the identification of those students who may qualify for gifted education services. Attached below are the Parent Guide for Gifted Education (revised in November 2010), as well as a link to frequently asked questions regarding gifted education published by PDE (clicking on this link will exit you from the Apollo-Ridge website).
