A runestone is a raised stone (tombstone) with a runic (alphabet used to write Germanic languages prior to the Latin alphabet) inscription. The tradition began in the 4th century, but most of the runestones date from the late Viking Age (8th to 11th centuries). They are often memorials to deceased men and were usually brightly colored when erected.

An interesting class of runestone is one of self-promotion. And it is after this class that A-R will pattern a bi-monthly newsletter published within the pages of the Apollo News Record.

Topics will include educational programming and definitions of some of the acronyms used in education.

Upcoming events and action items from the Board of School Directors will be posted along with news from various District departments.  Features on students and staff will round out each issue.

A special subscription rate is being offered by the Apollo News Record to residents of the Apollo-Ridge School District. Click on the What's New link to download a subscription form.
